THE HENCHMAN OF NOTRE DAME

USA, 2019 – COMPETITION SHORT

WRITER/DIR/PROD: Timothy Naylor
CAST: Kevin Mambo, LeRoy McClain

Quasimodo, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, longs to land a “normal job” in the service industry. With a new haircut and salsa skills to die for, he can also type over one hundred and three words per minute. The future looks bright, until his job agent from ACME tries to steer him into henchman work. Inspired by Victor Hugo, Mel Brooks and the Miami Sound Machine, the film harkens to the black and white dramas of the 30’s.

Setting a new standard for non-traditional casting, Emmy winning, Kevin Mambo (Zimbabwean), is the first black man to play Hugo’s iconic role on film. While LeRoy McClain (Shy Baldwin in the “The Amazing Mrs. Maisels”) plays his unscrupulous headhunter.
